Bio
Saxophonist Onel Jimenez is a San Antonio live musician, session player and band leader that plays jazz with an edgy style that fuses his musical experience that includes Gospel, Reggae, Blues, Latin music, and R & B.
He made his way onto the local music scene playing with the Trinidad Panmasters. The Panmasters were one of the most popular bands in Texas at the time. This was a working band playing nightly and performing over 200 shows a year. Known best for Carribean music, the band also covered a variety of styles and brought their own originals to the stage. The band also played at many of the largest events and shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the business - The Wailers, Pato Banton, Burning Spear, Third World, Inner Circle, Lisa Lisa, Cheap Trick, and Huey Lewis and the News.
Throughout the years he has been a constant in the music scene playing with many artists and bands such as Ruben V, La Bella, Europa, The Bluebucks, Right Now Society, E7 and Bros In Color. He has also shared stages with a number of recording artists such as Warren Hill, Will Donato, Dean James, Nick Colionne, Gerald Albright, David Wells, Paul Brown, Stanley Jordan and Rick Braun.
Although well known as a freelance player, he's at his best as an instrumental soloist leading his own group The Onel Jimenez Band. He has performed with his group at the San Antonio Summer Arts and Jazz Festival, Balcones Heights Jazz Festival, Taste of New Orleans and many other events. Check the Calendar for upcoming dates.
